A Wish for Your Holiday Season

Article Date
December 3, 2024

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you spent it exactly as you wanted to. Thanksgiving is special to many people due to its emphasis on coming together with family and friends and expressing gratitude for all we have. What a wonderful tradition!

Then there’s that other tradition associated with Thanksgiving weekend—Black Friday. We just told everyone (or at least thought about) how thankful we are. Why do we shift our collective focus to getting and giving more on the very next day? Many people take part in the ritual of setting their alarms even though they have the day off and rising before dawn to drive to crowded stores and stand in long lines of like-minded holiday shoppers. Sure, finding and giving the perfect gift can bring joy to both giver and receiver. However, many are blessed to be at a point where their wants are few and their needs are covered. One elusive gift is on most of their wish lists— more time.

The playing field is level in that we all have the same 24 hours a day to work with. However, most of us are employed and have only so much “free” time to fill.  During this holiday season, we ask you to give yourself this valuable gift:  Spend your “free” time, as much or as little as it may be, doing what you love with those who inspire a sense of peace and contentment within you. Love and care for yourself, as you show loving care for so many others every day.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
