Description
Target Audience: Nurses providing care to adult and pediatric patients and families in the Perioperative, PeriAnesthesia, and Endosocopy settings.
Purpose: To identify and discuss evidence, research, and best practices in current literature relevant to the care of Perioperative and PeriAnesthesia patients.
Educational Objectives:
- To enhance nurses’ knowledge of the research process
- To develop an awareness of current nursing research studies related to the care of the Perioperative/PeriAnesthesia patients
- To evaluate current practice based on evidence-based nursing research results
- To further develop and enhance critical thinking skills
- To enable nurses in all patient care areas an opportunity to participate and network in a journal club that focuses on their specific needs
- To motivate nurses to participate in evidence-based practice and/or nursing research projects at Lee Health
Desired outcomes: The desired outcome is to enhance the nurses' ability to stay current with relevant evidence-based research and integrate key care elements into current practice while continuing to provide safe and effective care.
Format:
Participants will register via email with Lynn Mayle @ lynn.mayle@leehealth.org
The online forum will be held quarterly.
Participation includes: Reading the assigned article, thoroughly completing the review worksheet; you will be assigned, by the facilitator, to respond to a discussion point provided by another journal club member. The 2 submissions must be a REPLY TO ALL
All items must be completed within the 30 days after the article is posted on the website.
Articles will be posted online when available in e-format or will be provided by the facilitator Lynn Mayle upon registration
Frequency of meetings: Quarterly Online with a new article each quarter

Available credits: Lee Health is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the Florida Board of Nursing This program has applied for 1 (one) contact hour.
